Most gas work in NSW needs a gas compliance certificate NSW law recognises as proof the job was done and tested by a licensed gasfitter. Competitors rarely explain it, so here is the plain version. What a gas compliance certificate covers
A Certificate of Compliance confirms your gas installation meets AS/NZS 5601.1, the national gas installation standard. It is a licensed gasfitter declaring, in writing, that the work is safe and to code. A compliance plate is also fixed near the appliance or meter.
